Mud Lake Board Meeting – August 10, 2024

- Latest treatment was for frontage
- Everyone happy with frontage treatment
- Lily pads are treated upon request
- Curly leaf pondweed is proliferating; inform PLM
- Treasury Update

- To be more profitable next year
- The donations jar was helpful
- All agreed the porta-potty was a good investment
- All agreed to do Poker Run next year on July 4th weekend
- Include an ice cream truck and band

- Observations of lake
- Compared to Iron Mill Pond where Mud Lake drains, we’re looking much better
- For treatment of personal frontage, let PLM know according to instructions they provided

Mud Lake Board Meeting Minutes- July 29, 2023
- By-Law Review
- Bob T. and John G. reviewed by-laws and shared recommended changes. After much discussion, the updated by-laws will be reviewed again at the next meeting for final approval.
- Treasury Update
- Expenses paid in the last month:
- $500 to Lunsford’s for fireworks
- $79 to Bilinski’s for email communication software (2-year subscription)
- Nancy will mail a donation flyer with instructions for a $50 voluntary donation to help cover costs for events, the trailer, and fireworks.
- Bilinski’s are working on the ability to collect donations through the Mud Lake website.
- Lake Treatment
- Everyone agrees the lake looks good, and weeds have decreased.
- There was a discussion about keeping an eye on the workers, making sure protocol is being followed, and reporting any incidents to PLM management.
- Summer Activities and Dates
- Poker Run Committee met to begin planning for next year
- Nancy will include a “teaser” for the event in the next mailing
- Pontoon Tie-Out on August 12th
- Meet at 2:00 PM on the south side of the lake.
- Dam Options
- Andy is gathering information and waiting on responses from EGLE.
- The goal is to find the best approach for maintaining a higher water level throughout the summer.
- Gravel Pit Update
- We discussed the implications of state vs. local control. Dan S. will get an update on the status of local gravel pits.
- Assessment
- The Board voted to cap the assessment cost at $160/year.

- Voluntary Board Elections– to be appointed for the upcoming 1-year term:

- Members-at-Large: Open to everyone
- Treasury Update
- We agreed to donate $500 to Lunsford’s for this year’s fireworks from the Mud Lake fund.
- Nancy will be mailing a donation flyer with instructions for a $50 voluntary donation to help cover costs for events, the trailer, and fireworks.
- Upcoming Lake Treatment
- Next application will be July 17th.

- Agreement that the lake is looking good with an overall decrease in weeds.

Mud Lake Board Meeting Minutes- May 20, 2023
- Introductions– we had an enjoyable reunion at Chateau Aeronautique. Present were John and Ginger Gajar, Bob and Nancy Turnquist, Kim & Ann Roberts, Alan & Cathy Bilinski, Ronnie Neumann, and Dan Soda.
- Treasury Update
- Financial report distributed; current balance is $2,878.85.
- It was agreed to request a “suggested donation” of $50/household/year to help fund the website, trailer maintenance and social activities.
- Further discussion continued about how to best support Chad’s fireworks. Dan Soda will follow up with Chad.
- Upcoming Lake Treatment
- PLM sent notices for lake treatment on May 25th.
- Milfoil and Curly Leaf will be targeted.
- Personal lakefront will likely be included. At this point, there is no need to pay extra.
- We are on our own for lily pads.
- Three activities are being planned:
- June 10th– Cornhole and Potluck (John Gajar will organize)
- July 1st– Lake Poker Run ML Fundraiser (Dan Soda will organize)
- August 12th– Pontoon Tie-out (Alan Bilinski will organize)
- Details for each activity will be posted on our website, along with a Save the Date email to all Mud Lake residents.
